Inspired by the scenery and distant vistas of the Blue Mountains and Monument Valley, the design and materials gave rise to two "sibling" cubes. One is positioned on the landscape, while the other appears to emerge from it.
The cabin orientations were shaped by the Navajo tradition of entering from the east. To access the Sunset Cabin, one must first pass through the patio, whereas the entrance to the Sunrise Cabin through the building and extends toward the cantilevered patio.
The interior and exterior materials were carefully selected to showcase the surrounding beauty and craftsmanship. Concrete floors, sinks, and countertops create a bold contrast with the reclaimed barn wood found on the interior walls and in the bedrooms, while the weathered steel exterior reflects the red sands of the nearby landscape.

Selected openings in both cabins frame picturesque views of the surrounding landscape: sand, mountains, and sky.
